Looking for a new challenge and a chance to make a difference? The Warwickshire Pension Fund is currently seeking an additional member for its Local Pension Board, overseeing the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

About the LGPS

As a defined benefit pension scheme, the LGPS provides its members with a secure and guaranteed income every year when they stop working, regardless of how well investments perform. With 6.1 million members across England and Wales, the LGPS is one of the largest pension schemes in the UK, and over 18,000 employers participate in the scheme.

Who takes care of the LGPS?

Warwickshire Pension Fund is responsible for looking after the LGPS in Warwickshire, with just over 54,000 members and assets of over £2.8 billion. Warwickshire County Council is the Administering Authority and retains ultimate responsibility for the administration and governance of the scheme. To support the council in fulfilling that responsibility and securing compliance with any requirements imposed by the Pensions Regulator, a Pensions Board was established in 2015. The Pensions Board is made up of Scheme Member and Scheme Employer representatives.

Why Warwickshire Pensions Board needs you

The Pensions Board needs to appoint a new scheme member representative. Having members of the LGPS in this role is essential to ensure that the interests of those invested in the scheme are fully represented. By championing the concerns and perspectives of scheme members, the new representative will play a vital role in guiding the direction of the pension fund to ensure that it is fully aligned with the needs and goals of those invested in it. Join us in this important effort to shape the future of the LGPS in Warwickshire.

Who’s eligible for this position?

If you are a current or former scheme member, or if you work for a Scheme Employer who participates in the LGPS, this is a unique opportunity for you to be involved in the administration and governance of the scheme. Applicants must also be available to attend Pensions Board meetings on a quarterly basis.

To be considered for the position, please refer to the Terms of Reference (PDF, 141 KB) and person specification (available via email), as the capacity and skills to meet the requirements outlined in these documents will form part of the selection criteria. Although there is no current vacancy for an employer representative, if you are interested in filling such a role when an opening becomes available, please let us know and attach an email from an authorised officer at your organisation.
